On August 22nd, Verizon Wireless released an updated version of its V Cast app, rebranding it to Verizon Video.
Verizon Video offers over 250 full, current episodes from a variety of networks and cable channels. The app also offers live sporting events and access to premium video content from NFL RedZone, NBC’s Sunday Night Football and the NFL Network.
Verizon customers can get full access for $10/month or $3/day. The bad news is that Verizon Video is currently limited to some Android devices and there is no iPhone support as of yet.
With the recent bandwidth caps implemented by Verizon Wireless, customers who are not grandfathered into the unlimited data plan could potentially use up all of their bandwidth in a one week time frame by using Verizon Video.
The reviews on the app are mixed with over a thousand one-star reviews and over 1,500 five-star reviews. Complaints included playback stuttering and the device outright freezing.
Makes you wonder why Verizon would release an app such as this one directly after the bandwidth caps. Is the whole point to get people to hit their data caps so that they upgrade their service?
